Born on February 3, 1935, in Illinois to the late Roy and Ruby Lindgren, Bob grew up with a spirit of service and adventure that would define his entire life. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and following his honorable discharge, he dedicated himself to a career in law enforcement before building a successful career in the insurance industry, where he was known for his integrity, hard work, and genuine connection with others.
Bob met the love of his life, Elizabeth, and from the very beginning, it was love at first sight. Together they built an extraordinary life filled with adventure, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Just this past July, Bob and "BJ" celebrated an incredible 66 years of marriage, a testament to a lifetime of adoration and partnership. His pure love for Elizabeth was palpable until his final hours, and their marriage set an example for younger generations to admire and learn from.
Bob was genuinely kind, quick to joke, and tough enough to fix practically anything with a tool or gadget close at hand. He was knowledgeable, made friends with nearly everyone he met, and was a good neighbor wherever he lived. He volunteered with the fire department in Buckhannon, West Virginia, until he moved in 2020, and was a proud member of the American Legion, the Ruffed Grouse Society, the NRA, and Tree Farms. He was a passionate advocate for the environment and wildlife.
He was happiest in the fresh mountain air and the woods he loved so deeply, whether hunting, clearing trails, Motor-cycling, cheering on the Washington Redskins, driving four-wheel-drive vehicles, collecting distinctive belt buckles and gadgets, listening to bluegrass music, or simply sharing stories and laughter with those he loved.
Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Lindgren; his daughter, Linda Fuller; his sister, Lois Gawler; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Ashley Anderson, David Rann, Kristin Merideth, Michael Rann, Gage Anderson, Weston Anderson, Violet Merideth, and Linnea Merideth. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Laura Rann; and his great-grandson, Bryson Anderson. He also leaves behind a slew of dearly loved in-laws, nephews, and longtime family friends.
He never looked for praises. He was never one to boast. He would challenge you and never go back on his word. He spent his time doing things he enjoyed, where he was happy, in witty way, with those he loved the most. Along the way he supplied us with countless memories, lessons, and moments we will never forget. He will not be remembered because he died; he will be remembered because he lived.
The family will hold a private luncheon followed by a clay shoot in Bob's honor on October 3rd, 2026 in Sylvania, Georgia.
