Paul Benton McKee, age 88, was born on August 20, 1937, in Creston, Iowa, and passed away on June 7, 2026. The youngest of four children, Paul was raised in Creston on a 440-acre farm. Paul’s early life was formed by steady roots and enduring family devotion exemplified through his parents, Arden and Marie McKee, who remained married until their passing.
Paul earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Creighton University. After completing his studies, he began work with insurance companies and ultimately spent his entire career in the insurance business. He retired early at 55, and devoted the next 30+ years to a life marked by faithful discipline, generosity with his time, and a sincere attentiveness to others.
A daily Mass-goer, Paul deeply loved his church home, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City, Georgia. His days reflected a steady rhythm: awake at 5:00 a.m., reading The Wall Street Journal cover to cover, then moving into the commitments he held with care—fellowship meeting, Mass, and volunteering—before ending the day early, in bed by 8:30 p.m., ready to begin again. He was an avid reader with a keen mind, remembered for his clarity and for the steady way he held onto what mattered.
Paul was also widely known in the recovery world for helping others, offering support with consistency and sincere care. In both public and private life, he carried himself with fairness and honesty that left no doubt about his character. Just as importantly, he was never afraid to say “I love you,” expressing devotion not only through steadfast presence, but also through words freely given.
Paul is survived by his sister, Marybeth McKee; his four nieces, Erin McKee, Christine McKee, Lynn Larry Fearn, and Pamela Larry; sister in law, Carol McKee; and godson, Warren Fraser.
A service will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 101 Walt Banks Road, Peachtree City, GA 30269 on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 10:30 AM, with a reception to follow.
