Susan Pinson Belding

Susan Wrenne Pinson Belding, born August 17, 1946, was the third of six siblings raised by parents Hallie Crighton Pinson and Theo Walton Pinson, Jr. in San Antonio, Texas. She passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends.

Susan graduated from Saint Mary's Hall and attended Mount Holyoke College before graduating from the University of Texas. She was active for many years with the Garden Club of Houston, Society for the Performing Arts, Junior League of Houston and Houston Country Club. Susan will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, keen intellect, generosity, sense of humor, and inner strength and for the love she shared so freely with those around her. Throughout her life, she touched the lives of many through her family, friendships, community involvement, faith, and personal passions. Susan’s life was marked by love of family, service, travel, music, art, books, gardening, cooking and competitive duplicate bridge. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, David Hamilton Belding, son John Franklin Jeffers and wife Laura Wood Jeffers, grandchildren Hallie Walker Jeffers and Charles Crighton Jeffers, siblings Harry Crighton Pinson and wife Karen, Elizabeth Llewelyn Pinson, Kathryn Pinson Davison, in-laws Mary Nell Jeffers Lovett and H. Malcolm Lovett, Jr., sister-in-law Paula Arnold and numerous extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband John Leroy Jeffers, Jr., daughter Adrienne Elise Jeffers, stepson Grant Hamilton Belding, siblings Theo Walton Pinson III and Hallie Margaret Pinson, and stepfather Frank Colby Guthrie.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at noon at Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Avenue, Houston, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Garden Club of Houston Memorial Fund, 4212 San Felipe, Houston, Texas 77027, or a charity of your choice, in Susan’s memory.

Susan leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and a life that made a difference to those fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
