Raised in the hills of northeastern Kentucky working in the tobacco fields with her family, Rosanne carried a deep love for her home place throughout her life, even as she made her home in Texas. As a young lady she worked for the FBI as a typist. She built a long and dedicated career with Southwestern Bell, remaining with the company as it became AT&T, from which she retired. A woman of remarkable independence and determination, she earned an Associate Applied Science Degree from North Harris Community College in 1993.
Rosanne was a loving mother to three daughters and a devoted grandmother to six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Nothing brought her greater joy than having her children and grandchildren gathered around her, and she expressed her love freely through her warm hugs and the holiday meals she delighted in cooking for her family. She enjoyed travel, especially visits with family in Kentucky, Idaho, and Ohio, and she treasured the time she spent at the family farm in Kentucky. After each visit, she would carry home a rock from Cabin Creek, a small piece of Kentucky to keep close to her in Texas.
Faith was the foundation of Rosanne's life. As a child, she was a member of Bethany Christian Church in Kentucky. In her adult years, she worshiped as a member of a Disciples of Christ church in Houston and later a Methodist church in Atascocita. Her steadfast belief in God guided her through every season of life, and her family takes comfort in knowing she has gone home to her Lord.
Rosanne is survived by her daughters, Charlotte (Wendy) Cone and husband Jack, Janice Payne, and Karen Davis; her grandchildren, Jennifer Greer and husband John, Jeff Cone and wife Jody, Gene Payne, Ashly Payne, and Jared Davis and partner Stormy Lay; her brother, Martin Henderson; and her sisters, Carol Blackburn and Jean Clancy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Winfield and Opal Garrett Henderson; her granddaughter, Rachel Payne; her son in law Joe Davis; her brothers, Ed Henderson and Tom Henderson; her sister, Elizabeth Henderson; her sister in law Shirley Henderson; and her brothers in law Tom Blackburn and Mike Clancy.
A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held at The Waterford Baytown where she resided for 4 years, on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Rosanne will be laid to rest at a later date at Bethany Christian Church Cemetery in Maysville, Kentucky, returning to the land she always loved.
