
Phillip Scott Waycasy, 60, of Webster, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on August 31, 2026. He was born in Houston, Texas, on December 4, 1965, to Wanda J. (Rogers) Waycasy. Phillip spent his entire life in the Houston area and was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School. He worked at Baytown Ford for many years.
Phillip married the love of his life, Judy K. Sanchez, on April 20, 2012. Together, they shared many wonderful years filled with love, laughter, family, and countless memories.
Phillip had a big personality and a heart to match. He had a crazy sense of humor and could always be counted on for a good comeback. There was never a shortage of laughter in their home, and Phillip was never shy about expressing his opinions.
He loved sports, especially the Houston Astros, Texans, and Rockets, as well as hockey. He was the family pitmaster and was well known for his fabulous briskets, especially the ones he prepared for Christmas. Christmas was one of Phillip’s favorite times of year. He would begin decorating the outside of the house at the end of October and work on it through December until everything was just right. He also loved Christmas shopping and attending the Renaissance Festival every year.
Phillip had a particularly soft heart when it came to rescue dogs. He generously donated to rescue organizations, and throughout the years, he and Judy opened their home to several adopted dogs. His beloved fur babies, Coco and Hershey, remained by his side until the very end.
Phillip is survived by his beloved wife, Judy K. Sanchez-Waycasy; and his cherished grandchildren, whom he loved deeply: Elyssa Rangel, Kaleb McNair, Michael McNair III, Sophia McNair, Isaiah Santamaria, Julius “Ju-Ju” Santamaria, Aviana “Avi” Santamaria, Giancarlo Santamaria, and Romeo Santamaria.
He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws who will miss him dearly.
Phillip was preceded in death by Eric Melyin, Natalie Hernandez, and his mother, Wanda J. Waycasy.
Phillip will be remembered for his humor, strong opinions, generous heart, love of family, passion for Christmas, and the many wonderful memories he created with those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
