Mark was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. He moved to Pearland, Texas in 1994 and resided there the remainder of his life.
At an early age, Mark had a love and natural talent for music. He described himself as a self-taught piano player and began playing at the age of 4. As a young adult, Mark was the keyboard player for the Louisiana based "Cotton Dan Band". Mark was especially proud of his work with late country music singer, Claude King. He worked with Claude in 2008 and co-wrote and produced the CD "The Cajun Cowboy Rides Again" along side of Mr. King.
Outside of music, Mark enjoyed carpentry. He had a passion for restoring old homes and loved wood-working projects. He was described as a jack of all trades, hard worker, and a kind person who always had a smile on his face.
Mark was an entrepreneur at heart. He was a piano teacher at the time of his passing. It brought him immense joy to share his love of music with his students and their families.
Mark was proceeded in death by his mother, Mary Picataggi, father Willis Ira Chamness, brother Phillip "Buddy" Chamness, and daughter Jennifer Chamness.
Mark is survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and daughter, Ashley Chamness.
There will be a Celebration of Life service in Mark's honor at Sagemont Church at 113 S. Sam Houston Parkway E. in Houston, TX on November 7th, 2026 at 10:00 AM. The service will be in the WC Chapel room 1113.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sagemont Church- (Mark Chamness Celebration of Life).
