John was born in Wichita on October 29, 1947 and grew up in Kansas, but his career with the US Postal Service required him to relocate many times as he advanced over 34 years from a city letter carrier to a finance senior executive (1966-2000). He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University in 1984. Early retirement at age 52 allowed him to enjoy many years of travel and his favorite pastime, golf. The Yankees, Celtics, and Packers also received his attention and support. He is remembered by family as having a “heart of gold.” A celebration-of-life gathering will be held at a later date.
