Larry Raymond Justice

Larry was born December 22, 1940, in Vernonia, Oregon, the oldest son of Raymond and Wilma Justice. He grew up in the Portland area with his three younger brothers, Darryl, David and Paul.

On September 22, 1963, Larry married Marilyn Jane Waldo in Portland, Oregon. Their marriage lasted 63 years, until his death. Shortly after their marriage, Larry and Marilyn moved to Northern California, where they built their life and raised their family. They lived in Oakland, San Leandro and Hayward before settling in Union City in 1975. In 2022, they moved to St. Augustine, Florida.

Larry earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from California State University, Hayward. He worked professionally as a tool designer for companies including Caterpillar, FMC and BAE Systems.

Larry and Marilyn had two sons, Douglas Raymond Justice and Kent Charles Justice.

Larry was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Jamie Justice, daughter of Douglas and Christine Justice; and Jessica Layne Justice Williams, Jonathan David Justice and Jacob Charles Justice, children of Kent and Ashlea Justice.

Art was an important part of Larry’s life. A talented painter, he especially enjoyed working in oils and leaves behind several memorable paintings that his family will treasure.

Larry was also a devoted Christian whose faith shaped the way he lived and served others. Through the years, he served in local churches in many roles, including deacon, elder, pastor of senior ministries and church treasurer. He had a particular heart for missions and traveled to India, Africa, South America and Central America to share the gospel and serve others.

Larry also loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter well into his 70s and took countless camping and hunting trips to the Sierra Nevada mountains near Lake Tahoe.

And Larry loved to drive.

That love of the road became a gift to his family. He took them on trips across North America, traveling through more than 40 states, including Alaska and Hawaii. National parks were among his favorite destinations, and he visited many of them over the years.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Wilma Justice, and his brother, Paul Justice.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn; his sons, Douglas and Kent; his daughters-in-law, Christine and Ashlea; his four grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica, Jonathan and Jacob; his brothers, Darryl and David; and extended family and friends.

Larry’s life was marked by faith, family, creativity, service and adventure. He leaves behind the paintings he created, the memories of countless miles traveled together, and a family shaped by his love.

Most of all, he leaves an enduring legacy of faith and generations who will continue to tell his stories.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at 10:00am at Church of the Redeemer in Ponte Vedra.
