Gordy was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and friend who enjoyed life, loved his family, and never passed up the chance to make someone laugh. He and his wife, Diane, shared 56 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, adventures, and plenty of memories along the way.
He was a proud dad to his two sons, David and Brian, a father-in-law to Brittany and Gwen, and a grandpa to Isaiah, Evan, Eva, and Logan. His family meant the world to him, and he loved spending time with them.
Gordy proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and later enjoyed a long career with Florida Blue before retiring.
He had a special love for the ocean and enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and making memories with family and friends. Whether he was near the water, off on another adventure, or simply enjoying good company, Gordy knew how to appreciate the little things in life.
If you knew Gordy, you knew he loved a good corny joke — and even a bad one! He always had something funny to say, usually followed by a laugh or an eye roll from whoever was listening. His sense of humor was one of a kind, and he had a way of making even the simplest moments memorable.
Gordy leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love. While his family and friends will miss him dearly, they’ll always have plenty of stories to share, jokes to remember, and reasons to smile when they think of him.
And because Gordy would probably think we’ve gotten a little too sentimental by now, we’ll end this the way he would have wanted, with his favorite saying:
“Bite me!”
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to Lewy Body Dementia Association.
Dates for the memorial service and celebration of life will be announced at a later time.
