Beth, a South Philadelphia native, was born on June 24, 1953 to Elizabeth and Arthur Muldoon in Philadelphia, PA. After Beth graduated from St. Maria Goretti High School in 1971, she studied finance at Pierce Junior College.
Beth met Michael R Castagno Jr. at Pierce Junior College and fell in love. After graduating with a degree in finance, she married Michael in 1975 and they moved to Glendora, New Jersey. After three years married, they had their first child, Beth Ann in 1978 and their second, Michael III in 1981.
Beth became a proud, stay-at-home mother who volunteered as a classroom mother, cub scout den leader, and volunteered at the local church; St. Gregory’s. At St. Gregory’s Church, she was an active member of the “Station of the Hands” performances during Easter for tri-state area churches to enjoy. She soon discovered her love for Walt Disney World and began planning every detail of her family’s annual vacations to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. She remained dedicated to these trips ensuring that the family went to Disney World for ten years. When an opportunity arose for her to work at the Disney Store she jumped at the chance enjoying and creating lifelong friends. After she left the Disney Store, she worked as a bank teller for various local banks in South Jersey.
In 2004, Beth & Michael moved to West Deptford, NJ to begin their retirement and continued it in St. Augustine Beach, Florida. In St. Augustine Beach, Beth helped save the sea turtles, became active in the bocce league that Michael helped to reignite, and enjoyed long days on the beach as a beach attendant.
Beth was known for her affectionate warm loving personality who made everyone and anyone always feel comfortable and welcome. She enjoyed her Italian cooking and doting on her grandchildren.
Beth was predeceased by her husband Michael, mother Elizabeth, father Arthur, brothers Thomas, and John, sister Mary, and nephew Christopher Reteneller. She is survived by her daughter Beth Ann (Ian), son Michael (Kristen), granddaughter and grandsons Adam, Rhys, Alex, and Olivia, and her brother James Muldoon. They will all greatly miss their Nona.
A Memorial will be held on the weekend of October 12th/13th with more information to follow. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue of St. Augustine to celebrate her love of cats and dogs.
