

Neil Charles Cavanagh, 86, passed away peacefully at home in Holiday, FL on August 7, 2026. He was a police officer in Wakefield, MA. 37 years ago, after retirement, he moved to Florida with his wife, Sandy, to play golf. Neil enjoyed playing the beautiful courses at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club where he worked for over 20 years and at Crescent Oaks where he later volunteered. He was well loved for his welcoming smile and his Irish sense of humor.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret (Foley) Cavanagh, his sister, Muriel Susan Cavanagh, his brother, William "Tommy" Cavanagh, his first wife, Marcia (Toussaint) Sargent and his son, Neil Charles Cavanagh, Jr.
Neil is survived by his wife, Sandra (Sweetser) Cavanagh, his daughter, Tina (Cavanagh) Hennessy, his son in law, James Hennessy, and his grandson, Neil Cavanagh Smith.
There will be a Mass for Neil on Saturday, August 29th, at 11am. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4843 Mile Stretch Drive, Holiday, FL. A brunch will follow at Fr. Farrell Hall, located behind the church.
There will be an inurnment on Saturday, October 24th, at 11am, at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield, Massachusetts. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Fish & Game Club at Mt. Hood Golf Course in Melrose, Massachusetts from 1-4pm.
