Mervyn was married to the love of his life, Joan "Joanie" Wood. They met in 1959, later marrying in 1962. They were married for 63 wonderful years. Mervyn lost his beautiful Joanie just nine months prior in April of 2025. They were a very loved and respected couple by all who knew them. Mervyn and Joan had two daughters, Tracy and Debbie.
In 1975 Mervyn moved his family across the pond from England to Wichita, Kansas where his success in the Automotive Industry continued. Years later, he opened his own dealership: Mervyn Wood AMC, Jeep and Renault in Jackson, Mississippi. Mervyn continued his career with the Asbury Group and HAC Group-Ford Motor Company, as a training consultant often traveling in the United States, Australia and Taiwan and as General Manager with Nissan of Brandon in Brandon, Florida. He was highly respected throughout his career, often referred to as a leader, mentor, father figure and lifelong friend. The auto world was his passion and Mervyn begrudgingly retired in his later years in Tampa, Florida.
In retirement Mervyn took up magic, entertaining his family at celebrations with his famous card tricks.
Mervyn is survived by his daughters Tracy Lang and Debbie Copparini, their spouses, Douglas Lang and Edon Copparini,
Grandsons, Max Restrepo and his fiancé Shana Zajkowski and Nicolas Restrepo and his wife Rachel Restrepo and three great-grandchildren Londyn Restrepo, Savannah Restrepo and Sutton Restrepo. He also leaves behind their sweet dog and constant companion, Sophie.
Mervyn was very proud of his family; Mervyn and Joan both believed in family first. Mervyn worked hard his entire life to give his wife, daughters and grandsons the best life and future.
Mervyn was lost without his Joanie and passed from a broken heart; he is now at peace with her forever.
They are both missed beyond words.
