It is with great sadness, and with gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of Martha Ann Huber, age 84, on December 12, 2025, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Martha was born on February 18, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Martha (Clark) Burns.
Martha spent most of her life in Maryland, where she and her late husband, John, raised their children in Cockeysville. The couple later settled in Westminster, where they treasured the frequent companionship of their son Mike and daughter-in-law Lisa until John’s passing in 2022. In her remaining years, Martha resided in St. Petersburg, Florida, close to family, finding comfort and joy in time spent with her daughters Robin and Karen and their families.
Martha had a genuine gift for connecting with people on a personal level. She was a thoughtful listener, giving her full attention to others and following up with meaningful questions that reflected her deep interest and care. She loved traveling with her husband and friends, visiting destinations including Alaska, Killarney, London, Dublin, Paris, and many of the nation’s National Parks. She also adored her family pets, and in later years, photographs of her beloved collie and cats often rivaled those of her grandchildren. Her dry sense of humor, sharp memory for names and dates, and her role as the family’s “keeper of dates” will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Huber III; an infant son, John A. Huber IV; her brother, Joseph C. Burns; and her sister-in-law, Pauline.
Martha is survived by her children, Robin Shertzinger (Martin), Michael Huber (Lisa), and Karen Huber (Joseph); her four grandchildren, Bailey Shertzinger (Eli), Paul Shertzinger (Sage), John (“Jack”) Cucina, and Nathan Cucina; and her great-grandson, Ezra Shertzinger Goodman. She also leaves behind her sister- and brother-in-law, Margaret (“Margie”) Michel and Robert Michel, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on January 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cockeysville, Maryland, with visitation in the church vestibule from 9:15 - 10:00 immediately preceding the Mass. Following the Mass and in accordance with her wishes, Martha’s ashes will be inurned alongside those of her late husband at 11:30 a.m. at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, Maryland.
