Donna Marie Watson (Plante), beloved mother, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She is now reunited with her devoted husband, Ron, bringing comfort to all who knew the depth of their enduring love.
Born on July 8, 1950, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Donna was the cherished daughter of Louis Plante and Doris (Vaillancourt). She was raised in Agawam, where she developed the strong sense of family and community that would guide her throughout her life. She carried with her a deep appreciation for connection and the importance of creating a warm and welcoming home—values that defined who she was.
Donna was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School and went on to attend Westfield State College, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, along with her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS). She dedicated her career to education, working within the Agawam Public School system until her retirement in 2010. Throughout her career, she made a lasting difference in the lives of countless students and colleagues through her patience, care, and unwavering commitment.
Donna’s unmistakable joy and vibrant spirit touched everyone she met. She had a gift for making people feel cared for and included, whether through meaningful conversation, thoughtful gestures, or simply the warmth of her presence.
Above all else, Donna was deeply devoted to her family. She was a constant source of love, strength, and support, always putting others first and finding joy in time spent together. Some of the most cherished memories are found in life’s simplest moments—watching Christmas Hallmark movies, sharing hot cocoa topped with fluff, playing cribbage, or spending summer afternoons at Tanglewood. She was a steady and loving presence throughout every chapter of life, always creating a sense of home wherever she was.
She found great happiness at the lake in the Berkshires, where summers were filled with laughter, relaxation, and treasured memories. It was a place that reflected her spirit—warm, welcoming, and centered on connection. In retirement, she enjoyed spending her winters in Englewood, Florida, where she formed many meaningful friendships and became part of a close-knit community.
Donna also had a love for travel, whether cruising with her husband or taking trips with her girlfriends—so much so that her children often joked they could hardly keep up with her adventures. She created lasting memories in destinations such as Paris, London, Marbella, Barcelona, and Scotland. While the places were remarkable, it was her presence that made those experiences unforgettable. She also had a deep love for animals, especially her cherished cats, who brought her comfort and companionship over the years.
Donna will be remembered for her strength, resilience, and deep compassion. She believed in standing up for what mattered, showing kindness to others, and facing life’s challenges with grace—qualities she carried with her throughout her life and into her final days.
She is survived by her loving children, David (Amanda Bell) of East Longmeadow, MA, and Sarah Watson of St. Petersburg, FL; and Connor, who affectionately knew her as Mémère. She also leaves behind extended family and dear friends who will continue to honor her memory and carry forward her spirit. In addition to her husband Ron, she was predeceased by her parents and her brother, George.
Donna’s life was a testament to love, family, and the beauty found in everyday moments. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her love, lessons, and spirit will continue to live on in the lives she touched.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
