Charles Tucker Moore

January 24, 1941 – August 4, 2026
Obituary of Charles Tucker Moore
Charles Tucker Moore passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at home in Belleair, FL, with his beloved wife, Melissa, of 58 years by his side.

Tucker was born on January 24, 1941, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Charles Harrison Moore and Catherine Hardin Moore, and he attended Harrodsburg Public Schools through the 8th grade.

Tucker and his family then moved to Illinois where he attended New Trier High School in Winnetka and met his future wife, Melissa, at a basketball game. Following graduation, Tucker attended at Furman University, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity and he majored in Business Management Administration. After graduating from Furman, Tucker joined the US Navy and attended Officers Training School in Newport, Rhode Island. He served throughout his Naval years on the Admiral's Staff aboard the USS Providence during the Vietnam War, and achieved the rank of Lieutenant. As much as Tucker loved being on the water, sailing and obtaining his Captain's license, his other passion from an early age was sports cars. He owned a “1965” 356C Porsche for over fifty years.

The Moores loved travel and cruised or flew away to foreign ports and sites at every opportunity. They worked and lived in Winnetka, Illinois, North Redington Beach, Florida, Asheville, North Carolina, and finally settled in Belleair, Florida. After years of a very successful career in business management of shopping malls, golf courses, country clubs and resorts from Alaska, California and Florida, Tucker and Melissa worked together to remodel and renovate houses as a retirement project. During that time, Tucker also became more active with the Kentucky Colonels and he and Melissa were baptized in the Baptist Church.

Tucker was a loving soul and will be so missed by his cherished Melissa, his sister, Judith ("Sis") Moore Cheney of Asheville, North Carolina, nephew, George Philip Cheney IV, of Asheville, North Carolina, nephew Fraser Cartwright of Phoenix, Arizona, nephew Jay Cartwright of Phoenix, Arizona, and dear and loving friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, at a later date.
